Questions and Answers
Q: Is the pivot stud available as a stand alone product?
A: It is not as this is a press fitted piece. You can order the bottom pivot portion only if necessary or naturally the entire pivot.

Q: Richard, Attached is the picture of the actual int. pivot

and I would need a quote for (4) of the pivots.

A: So what you're saying is you want to purchase this actual pivot. We absolutely can manufacture custom intermediate pivot hinges – we do it every day of the week!

If you would be kind enough to give me a little more information around quantity, finish, etc. we can give you a budget figure that we can tighten up once we see a physical sample and nail down the details with more specificity. Also, if there are other custom pieces that may need to be fabricated on this project maintaining the historical integrity of the building, please consider us for those as well. We have been the leader in this space for 40 years and have fabricated hardware for the White House, tons of state capitols and government buildings around the world matching original specifications and integrating with modern standards. I look forward to hearing back from you with more information.

Q: Currently looking for a total of 4 units that would be solid brass base material that would be in a polished brass finish and at this time if you could put together a budget number based on the quantity for and the image attached i will work with the client and then we can work towards the next step of the quoting and manufacturing process if the budget number is within the realm of possibility for these folks.
A: I am pleased to quote you a price of $2800 each to custom manufacture 4 intermediate pivot hinges in brass, incorporating bearings similar to your sample, and finished per your specification in polished brass or antique patina. The unit cost for 10 each would be $1300 and the unit cost for 25 would be $900 each. That price is valid for 120 days F.O.B. Naples, FL
Q: I have a storefront aluminum door. The door is sagging maybe 1/4 inch or less and it is hitting and rubbing the bottom door threshold when opening and closing. If i lift the door a little it will open and close freely. It looks like the intermediate pivot is bent a little on the frame side and I have tried to screw in harder but it is as snug as it gets. it looks like it has a reinforcing plate as well inside the door for the pivot intermediate. What do you think part this is and what should I order to replace the pivot or should I replace all 3 components top to bottom. Images here:

A: Adjusting that intermediate pivot is not going to affect the correction that you need. In fact the intermediate pivots job is to keep the door from warping and doesn't carry much of any of the weight of the door whatsoever.

What I would attempt first is to simply shim the bottom pivot up to see if you can lift the entire door from the bottom. I would be tempted to get the door lifted up from the bottom pivot towards the header and if that doesn't work I would replace the bottom pivot and the arm in the bottom of the door completely - I wouldn't change the intermediate pivot at this time nor would I change anything in the header.

If you feel as if you need to change the bottom pivot please email us photographs of that for further review.
